Agility and Organizational Patterns

Jeff Sutherland show on this blog the importance of Agility and Organizational Patterns. For me more important than this was a talk during the XP Days 2007 in Mechelen, Belgium. Marc Evers and Wilhelm van de Ende talked in a very impressive 45 minute talk about cultural patterns of organizations. They got their ideas mainly from Gerald M. Weinberg, Quality Software Management vol. I: Systems Thinking. The key point of this talk was that there are six different patterns a organizational culture can be categoriezed in:

  1. Routine
  2. Variable
  3. Steering
  4. Oblivious
  5. Anticipating
  6. Congruent
