Are you creative? When you ask school kids in the first class if they believed they are artists. What do you think the answer will be?
What answer do you get from the kids when they are teenagers?
That is sad, because we need more and more people who believe that they are creative. Sir Ken Robinson tells us in his remarkable talk, what we need to do to help our kids to be more creative:
Robinson points out the many ways our schools fail to recognize — much less cultivate — the talents of many brilliant people. “We are educating people out of their creativity,” Robinson says.
If you can spare 18 minutes I ask you to watch this video. Especially if you have children. We need to make sure that our children get the chance to live their lives with all the creativity they have. Unfortunately our school system still rewards a specific kind of intelligence and does not embrace all the other kinds of intelligence: musical, emotional, tactile and and and.
The school system in most countries needs to be changed – we need to help our kids to live in a globalized world in which they have to learn to use the internet, in which they need to learn that there are many more cultures than the west-european, or anglo-american culture.
